We get asked this a lot: "Is there anything I need to do before you come?" The answer is yes, but it's simple and takes about 5 minutes.
The essentials
Move bins and garden furniture away from windows. We need clear access to reach every window with our water-fed poles. Anything within about a metre of the house should be moved.
Ensure side gate access. If your rear windows are accessed through a side gate, make sure it's unlocked on the day. If you have a key code or combination lock, let us know in advance.
Close all windows. We'll be spraying water up the full height of your windows. Open windows mean water inside your home. This sounds obvious, but it catches people out at least once a week.
Things that help but aren't essential
Remove window-mounted items. Suction-cup bird feeders, thermometers, or decorative stickers on the glass — if they're easy to remove, it helps us clean the full surface. If not, we'll work around them.
Trim back overhanging plants. Climbing plants, hanging baskets, or hedges tight against windows make access harder and can scratch freshly cleaned glass. If you've been meaning to cut them back, doing it before our visit makes a difference.
Let us know about fragile areas. New flowerbeds, freshly laid gravel, recently painted surfaces — if there's anything near the house that needs careful treatment, a quick note helps us plan our approach.
Things you don't need to do
Don't pre-clean the windows. Seriously. Some customers wipe their windows before we arrive, which actually makes our job harder (detergent residue interferes with pure water cleaning).
Don't worry about being home. Most of our regular customers aren't home when we clean. We have a text reminder system — you'll get a message the day before confirming your slot.
Don't move heavy items. If there's a hot tub, large planter, or shed against the house, leave it. We'll work around permanent fixtures.
On the day
We'll arrive during your booked slot, clean all accessible windows (glass, frames, and sills), and send you a text when we're done. Payment is collected automatically if you're on a regular schedule, or you'll receive an invoice for one-off cleans.
If we spot anything concerning — damaged seals, cracked glass, blocked gutters — we'll take a photo and let you know. No pressure to buy anything; it's just part of the service.
Regular customers
If you're on a 4 or 8-week schedule, you'll quickly get into a routine. Most regulars just make sure the gate's unlocked and bins are clear. Everything else becomes automatic.
