What are fascias and soffits?
Fascias are the boards along the roof edge that your gutters bolt onto. Soffits are the panels tucked underneath the roofline. Together they protect roof timbers from weather and pests.
Why do fascias go green and stained?
Somerset's damp climate and mild temperatures are ideal for algae. North-facing and shaded rooflines are worst affected. The growth is cosmetic at first but traps moisture and causes deterioration over time.
Can you restore faded white UPVC?
A thorough clean lifts the algae, grime and chalky surface film and freshens the colour up noticeably. We do not polish UPVC, so very deep UV fade that has gone into the plastic will not fully reverse, but most discolouration is surface build-up that comes off well.
Do my fascias need replacing or just cleaning?
If the boards are warped, soft, or pulling away from the wall, replacement is likely needed. But most green staining and discolouration cleans off without replacing anything.
Is it cheaper to combine fascia cleaning with gutter clearing?

How often should fascias and soffits be cleaned?
Once a year for most properties. Homes in shaded or damp spots may benefit from every 6 months. Pairing with your annual gutter clear is the easiest approach.
